Midnite is a UK-born sports betting and casino product built like a fintech, not a bookmaker. The line its founders use is "the Monzo of betting". The Platform Engineering team is the layer underneath everything else, and this is a lead-level mandate over it: Python, AWS, and real say in how the platform scales as Midnite pushes into Australia and Canada.
Remote, anywhere in Australia · Platform Engineering · Reports into Midnite engineering leadership
This role exists because Midnite is growing. $75M+ raised across funding history including a Series C, 400,000+ players on the platform, and 150+ people across the business. The company is pushing into new regulated markets, Australia and Canada, at the same time, and the Platform Engineering team is live-hiring in both.
The title has shifted twice in the last year: Senior Backend Engineer, then Platform Engineer, then Lead Platform Engineer. That usually means the scope has grown faster than the org chart could keep up with. The role sits on the Platform Engineering team and is remote from anywhere in Australia.
Midnite's Platform Engineering team is the infrastructure and tooling layer underneath the whole product: Python and AWS, with real ownership over how it scales as the platform pushes into AU and Canada.
This is a lead-level mandate: less "write the ticket", more "decide how the platform should work and bring the team with you".
You'd be working alongside the engineers already on the Platform team, reporting into Midnite's engineering leadership, with the same stack and scope as the equivalent role Midnite is hiring for in Canada right now.

Nick Wright and Daniel Qu founded Midnite wanting to build the sports betting product they felt the UK market didn't have: mobile-native and fast, with the product discipline of a fintech rather than a legacy bookmaker. "The Monzo of betting" is the line they use themselves.
What success looks like, and how we recruit for it.
You're across the Platform team's existing stack and current priorities, with a clear view of what's already shipped and what's next on the roadmap into AU and Canada.
You're driving at least one meaningful platform decision independently: picking the call on tooling, reliability work or infrastructure direction rather than just executing someone else's.
The platform is visibly better for your being on it: fewer fires, clearer ownership, and the team pointing to decisions you made as the reason things got easier.
Kairos reviews your background properly and gives you a call. Pay is being worked through properly with Midnite, so that conversation starts honest rather than starting with a guess.
You've led platform or infrastructure work at lead level, not just contributed to it. You're comfortable owning reliability and tooling decisions for a team that depends on the platform working, and you can operate with real autonomy rather than waiting to be told what the platform should do next.
Python and AWS experience, exposure to a scaling consumer product, and comfort working remotely with a team based mostly in the UK all help.
